Shinda Basic School
Shinda Basic School was established in 2000 on the outskirts of Arusha as an alternative to government schools for local, low-income families. Shinda uses progressive teaching methods, which, when compared with typical teaching in Tanzania, which involves learning by memorization, the progressive methods are quite effective. This teaching style fosters critical thinking and problem solving. In 2008, 10 out of 12 students were selected to continue on to secondary school. We are proud to have supported Shinda Basic during its critical formative years.
