WHAT EDUCATION BENEFICIARIES SAY

We used to have just three classrooms and one office. FOTZC came to our rescue, now we have a dining hall, a modern kitchen and 8 classrooms. These infrastructures have improved the studying environment and as a result we have seen improved academic performances among the students.
– Gerson Chenza , Orkuyene Primary School Headmaster

For sure you find that as a teacher, you are living in a good house. That house was built for us by FOTZC.  Because our house is near the school, even during night, I am able to come to the class and teach my students. Compared to before I was living very far from school. I just come to the school morning then, and the other afternoon I go back. So to have the house for me, it makes me comfortable because I'm near to the school. I'm comfortable to teach my students, to help them academically.
– Rosina Stefan Nari, teacher living in FOTZC-built housing

We agreed as villagers to start a school here because students used to walk more than 7km to the nearest school.  It was not safe for them since there are dangerous wild animals such as elephants and rhinoceroses and occasional floods when it rains heavily. After the construction of classrooms, we have seen a huge rise in daily attendance. When we started, we had 70 students but now there are 306 students.

FOTZC has been our great stakeholder in the setting up and improvement of the community. FOTZC has built classrooms, a dining hall, teachers’ houses, a water well and a medical dispensary. At Oloipiri Primary they have built a two-in-one teacher’s house and at Oloipiri Secondary more than two dormitories have been built. Having dormitories for us is like a dream come true. We cherish FOTZC; the government also acknowledges their work.

The awareness and willingness to education among the Maasai community has increased. Education is important for the community because we can use it to fight ignorance and diseases.  I would like to thank FOTZC donors on behalf of the Oloipiri people for their massive support in education, health and development.
Lukas Kurkas, the Ward Councilor of Oloipiri and past Village Chairman
