New classrooms make the dream of a good education a reality for many more students

In remote areas of Tanzania, access to education means opportunity, independence, and the possibility of a brighter future, not just for the child, but for their entire family. It’s why demand for schooling in the region is so high that up to 120 students crowd into just one classroom. Conditions like this make it nearly impossible for children to learn, or for teachers to do their jobs effectively.

Students are eager to learn, but overcrowded classrooms make focus difficult.

Less-crowded classrooms give these students the chance to make incredible strides.

Less-crowded classrooms give these students the chance to make incredible strides.

For just $32,000, FoTZC can build three new classrooms for Robanda Primary students. Reduced class sizes will keep students and teachers healthier, and let them focus on their most important task: l earning. Thanks to a generous donation by the Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation, we can reach that goal quickly. They’ll match every dollar you donate until the goal is reached.

Your investments in these students are already paying off. FoTZC-built teacher housing at Robanda has translated into enthusiastic teachers and huge achievements for their students. Three girls at Robanda Secondary recently took the top three spots in a district-wide essay contest, winning a trip to attend a South African conservation conference. Overall, the school ranked first in performance on two National Examinations for the district.

But these achievements have only made a Robanda education more appealing, and as the region continues to grow, so do the school’s needs. New classrooms could help dozens more students access a life-changing education. And thanks to the dollar-to-dollar match, your investment today will have double the impact.

We know that times are uncertain right now. That’s true all over the world. Working with our Tanzanian friends – students, village elders, construction workers – FoTZC had planned this project before we knew the extent of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we won’t risk their health by starting construction before it’s safe, our partners rely on projects such as this one for their livelihood. We feel it is only right to reassure them that their construction jobs are secure as soon as they can get back to work. Their livelihoods, the health of their families, and the dreams of these students depends upon it.

Your gift today will make futures brighter in Robanda for years to come. Help this community in more ways than one by ensuring this project can continue when it’s safe to do so.
