CHRISTOPHER HALLORAN SCHOOL
Chris Halloran was an investment banker turned professional photographer, and a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Dodge School of Film at Chapman University. Chris believed in education for all, and that belief, combined with his deep and abiding love for Africa, led to the concept of the Christopher Halloran School. Focus on Tanzanian Communities has partnered with a circle of Chris’s friends and family, led by his sister Catherine, to build the Christopher Halloran School in Orkuyene, Tanzania, just outside the Serengeti near the border of Kenya. The school now provides classrooms, housing for teachers, a well and water supply, sanitary latrines for students and teachers, a kitchen, and a dining hall that serves the school as well as the greater community. The school continues to grow and so do the needs of the students and teachers. An 80-person dormitory for girls is under construction, and fundraising efforts for a boys dormitory is now underway.
Chris passed away from a rare form of melanoma in 2015, but his legacy will live on via this school. We hope you will join us in honoring Chris and his love of life, education, and Tanzania.
Cost of the boys dormitory and furnishings is $110,000. For online donations, please note in the “Comments” section that your gift is for the Christopher Halloran fund.
